De MARMOTE

Inria is hiring a research engineer for the ANR project MARMOTE: "MARkov MOdeling Tools and Environments", for a duration of 18 months.

Context: the MARMOTE project (https://wiki.inria.fr/MARMOTE/Welcome) aims at realizing the prototype of a software environment dedicated to modeling with Markov chains. It brings together seven partner teams, expert in markovian analysis, who will develop advanced solution algorithms and applications in different scientific domains: reliability, distributed systems, biology, physics and economics.

Description: the person hired will be in charge of designing the software environment and implementing its first version. The main challenge is to produce a flexible framework that will be used by all partners who will have to contribute their existing software and their new algorithms, and will have to use it for their applications.

Among the activities foreseen as part of the mission:

  • collecting requirements from different groups of scientists
  • design of the architecture of the software
  • implementation of modules and algorithms
  • assistance to partner teams for the integration/implementation of their tools
  • porting
  • management of the collaborative programming platform
  • documentation.

Experience and skills:

  • experience in the realization of collaborative software
  • languages C, C++, Java, Python
  • capacity to communicate in English with international scientists.

Localization: Sophia-Antipolis, Inria Sophia-Antipolis Méditerranée research center, project-team MAESTRO. Many visits to Montpellier, Paris and Grenoble will be necessary.

Starting, duration: 1st september 2013, 18 months.

Monthly salary: from 2500 Euros (gross), according to experience.
